Oh there are days when you don't wanna spend too much time in the kitchen. You like to be in and out. Well, that case Tadka dal comes to my rescue. Its a super Healthy, Tasty, Easy dish to prepare. Goes well with your steamed rice or roti. Tadka means the tempering you do on cooked dal. It takes no time for preparation and the ingredients are always in your pantry. My family enjoys this dish with warm rice and some ghee on top - you can too.
Ingredients:
Toor Dal - 1 cup.
Salt - as needed.
For Tempering:
Onion (Finely chopped) - 1/3 cup
Garlic (Smashed & chopped) - 1/3 cup
Green chillies - 4 no's
Curry leaves / Coriander leaves - 10 no's
Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
Dry red chilli - 2 no's
Cumin seeds - 1-1/2 teaspoons
Asafoetida / Hing - 1/2 teaspoon
Ghee - 1 tablespoon
Turmeric powder - one pinch
Method:
- Wash Toor dal well. now add about 2 cups of water for 1 cup of dal in a cooker, with salt and cook for 3 whistles.(Sorry i forgot to take cooked dal picture)
