Cabbage In Tomato Gravy

The health benefits of cabbage are many. Cabbage offers many vitamins and fiber, with no fat or cholesterol. It has a good amount of vitamin C. I prepare cabbage in many ways. Today I am sharing cabbage curry with tomato following this easy cabbage (patta gobhi) curry recipe.


Ingredients :


Cabbage Head : 1
Tomato : 2 (medium)
Potato : 2
Bay leave : 1
Green Chilli : 1 (slit into two)
Cumin seeds : 1 tsp.
Turmeric powder : 1 tsp.
Cumin powder : 1 tsp.
Chilli powder : 2 tsp.
Coriander powder : 1 tsp.
Oil : 2 tblsp.
Sugar : 1 tsp.
Salt to taste


Method :

Boil the potatoes and cut into medium size cubes. Cut cabbage into square like big chunks.

In a pan, heat oil, add chunk cabbage pieces, fry until golden brawn in medium flame. Keep aside.

In the same oil, add cumin seeds and bay leaves, when cumin seeds start to crackle, then add tomatoes, stir until tomatoes get soft in medium flame. Then add all the powdered spices and sugar and with 2 tblsp. water mix well and cook until oil seperates the masala.

Then add boiled potatoes and fried cabbage. Mix well with the masala paste and pour 1 cup water. (it's not a dry preperation, there should be little curry left).

When the vegetables are just done and the gravy thickens, take the pan out off heat.

Serve hot with rice or roti....
